A brief encounter with the Leica M9: 1 of 7

Oh hello there, as you know, I’m the photographer – Kang – behind this photoblog. I like food and sometimes talk about it on LondonEater (just sometimes :D ) and for those of you who follow Noir then you know that I never really write more than four lines of text with my photographs. Well, this time its different. This time, I shot with a Leica M9.

So the one and only shot taken with my trusty Nikon D700 (and Nikkor 35mm f1.4 AIS at ISO 800 and f1.4) is this lead picture of the M9. The rest of the photographs in this series are shot with my SD Card in the M9. So I was at the brand new London Leica store in Mayfair which has just opened yesterday and let me tell you – its like a photographer’s heaven. I asked the super friendly staff if I could try the Leica M9 with that dream lens – the 35mm f1.4 Summilux – and to my delight they let me (and other customers) hold and shoot with it. Ok so, this is the ultimate PJ kit right here, perfect focal length and super fast glass.

Bearing in mind I’m an SLR shooter so rangefinder focusing is completely new to me and you know that Leica ‘look’ people keep banging on about. Well, all I can say is that I finally believe the hype.

This is a seven photo series, I have clearly labeled them 1 to 7 and if you need to see the index page for this series, click here. Otherwise scroll down to go to page 2 and without further ado, Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you Noir shot with a Leica M9…
