Hope against the storm.

15mm f8. Kodak Portra 800. Late 2010. London.

Sometimes life is an uphill battle. Sometimes the icy chips of the storm seems like a downright mess of a minefield to navigate through. Sometimes you feel like the invisible thumb is pressing so hard that all you feel is a throbbing pain in the back of your head. Sometimes you wish you could just switch off and give up and stop trying, but on the same token, your pride gets in the way of the quitting talk, so you put your head down, and you keep chugging along. You remind yourself of the Rocky Balboa story. Everybody loves an underdog, perhaps because we’ve all been under the cosh at some point in our lives, we identify with the human spirit, that there is always hope, there is always a choice, and it is in this hour, that you must believe in yourself, when no one else will.

Nothing swings harder than life, but its not about how hard it hits you, it’s about how much you can take and keep moving forward. Keep getting hit, and keep moving forward. Because if you can persevere, see it all the way to the end. Hope will be waiting.
